Snow Globes

Hello and welcome to my New Zealand pages.
I am from Taihape, Central North Island,
or Gumboot City as in some circles it is called.
I am now living in Nebraska, after recently relocating from Wyoming
and before that Oregon, USA with my husband James.

I do not have a lot about my birth country.
I have however three poems I have written.
A link or two of the area come from and will be adding more.

Some useless or perhaps enlightening information,
from my first visit to the U.S.A.:-
When I arrived in the States, there are a few things
I immediately noticed that was different to New Zealand.
The toilets are in the bathroom, hardly any homes have a seperate toilet.
(half bath or Powder Room) Most have two full bathrooms or more.
The water in the toilet fills up to half fill in the bowl after you flush it.
I found this strange, but am used to it now.
All apartments have a bath, (tub) whereby in NZ shower stall
without a bath are the normal.

No outside drying the clothes in this particular area,
all washing is dried in the drier, even during summer
What a waste of good God given sunshine!

The light switches is up for on and down for off.
There are no off/on switch for the outlet plugs

Most kitchens have two sinks which is very handy
During summer homes use air conditioners, that the main
machinery sits outside and air pumped in through the pipes
ceiling fans or small detachable window Air Conditioners
that can be taken out of the window for winter and all
windows have screens on them against insects

All cokes, pepsis etc are called 'sodas' no matter the brand
There is no lemonade as we in NZ know it, 7 UP is the closest
Look out for vehicles on your left, and turning anti-clockwise
or counter-clockwise into drive-throughs at petrol stations etc.
Cheapest Petrol at present fluctuates between $2.57 per gallon up to $2.89
